Dr. Berg talks about what could be causing your hair loss during a keto (ketogenic diet), and intermittent fasting. It could be low calories effecting your thyroid. It could be low protein (amino acids). It could be low trace minerals,or minerals. Low B-vitamin can be a problem with growing hair. Low stomach acids could prevent the absorb of protein.
Hey guys I’m back and today we are going to talk about what to do if you are losing hair when you are doing keto and intermittent fasting. Most of the time when you are doing intermittent fasting and keto you are going to get your hair back and it is going to grow more and if it doesn’t, then this is what you will need to look at. If you are not consuming enough calories and is going in a low calorie diet, you will not going to have the basic nutrients the proteins of the body and the nutrients that help support the proteins, that is going to also affect the thyroid glands and you could lose your hair. Make sure that when you start including intermittent fasting that you have enough food that has enough nutrients in it, you want to consume nutrient-dense foods and make sure it is bigger. But the first nutrient that you want to make sure that you have enough of is protein. If you are consuming not enough protein that is probably why you are losing hair. If you are doing three oz. per meal, then go up to 4-5 oz. to see that it will just handle it. A lot of times when people start doing this, their hunger goes away and so they just barely eat anything and they may start showing signs of nutritional deficiency and they will have a situation where they aren’t just hungry. To clarify the don’t eat when you are hungry, at some point of the day you will just have to consume some nutrients and just increase the amount of food that you consume and make sure that it’ll fulfills the nutrient requirement. The key things is to make sure we are not doing the low calorie diet. The definition of that is not consuming enough calories that meet our nutritional needs. Especially if you are consuming foods that are not nutrient dense you are going to be in trouble with that. If you start showing signs of hair loss, nail brittleness and fatigue are really good indicators.
